DDC-6 (NY) Cost: $40.00. Length: 6 Hours. Min: 12, Max: 40
In this course you will learn to recognize the need for and benefits of defensive driving be able to identify risky driving attitudes and behaviors. You will also be taught techniques you can use to maintain control in adverse driving situations and be presented with driving skills and techniques to use in avoiding collisions and violations caused by vehicle or driving conditions and become familiar with the skills and techniques that allow you to avoid collisions and violations. You will also learn to spot the common types of driving errors that contribute to collisions. Students will receive a National Safety Council Certificate which entitles them to a 10% discount on their insurance and allow them to remove up to four points from their license. Alive at 25 Cost: $25.00. Length: 4 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 20 (Must be between 16 and 24)
Designed exclusively for young drivers between the ages of 16 and 24, this course will teach them how to take responsibility for their driving behavior. This course uses video, discussion, and role-play designed to help them understand how inexperience, distractions, and peer pressure cause unique driving hazards, how speeding, alcohol, and "party drugs" greatly increase their risk of injury or death, and how, as a driver or passenger, they can greatly reduce their risk by taking control.
Alive at 25/DDC-6 Course Combo Package: Cost: $50. Length: 9 Hours (Three 3-hour sessions or two 4 ½-hour sessions.
This program combines the Alive at 25 and the DDC-6 and is exclusively for students age 16-24.
CEVO –Ambulance. Cost: $50. Length: 6 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
Designed for ambulance drivers, this course adapts the NSC defensive driving techniques to the unique nature of ambulance work, training drivers to navigate traffic safely in emergency and non-emergency situations. Course includes how to handle adverse weather conditions, blind spots and cushion of safety, intersections, passing and lane changes, safe backing and parking, scanning and traffic hazard identification, vehicle handling, design and inspection
CEVO – Fire. Cost: $50. Length: 6 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
Designed for fire department vehicle drivers, this course adapts the NSC defensive driving techniques to the unique nature of fire department work, training drivers to navigate traffic safely in emergency and non-emergency situations. Course includes how to handle adverse weather conditions, blind spots and cushion of safety, intersections, passing and lane changes, safe backing and parking, scanning and traffic hazard identification, vehicle handling, design and inspection
School Bus Driver Safety. Cost: $50. Length: 6 Hours. Min: 10, Max 40.
This course encourages driver involvement and interaction in the learning process. This non-lecture, participant centered format allows both experienced and new drivers to identify with the material and safe driving concepts presented. Throughout the course, drivers are encouraged to employ their reasoning and critical thinking skills to arrive at responses to questions and traffic situations that reflect the challenges they are faced with while driving a school bus.
Transporting Passengers with Special Needs. Cost: $50. Length: 6 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
Designed to comply with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, this course teaches both defensive driving techniques and safe passenger assistance procedures. Through individual and "Driver Learning Team" exercises, group discussion, and hands-on demonstrations, students learn about vehicle inspection procedures, handling a passenger pick-up site, defensive driving skills and techniques, maintaining a cushion of safety, backing conditions, passenger assistance procedures. effective communication skills, assisting passengers in and out of the vehicle, safe lift procedures, and securing passengers within the vehicle.
Van Driver Safety Cost: $40. Length: 4 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
Vans are very different than passenger cars – they are bigger, heavier, have larger blind spots, and require longer following and stopping distances. This course teaches drivers of both cargo and large (15 passenger) vans skills including van characteristics, conducting a pre-trip Inspection, using a cushion of Safety, blind Spots, City, Highway and Rural Driving, and backing.
Straight Truck Driver Safety Cost: $40. Length: 4 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
Trucks are very different than passenger cars – they are bigger, heavier, have larger blind spots, and require longer following and stopping distances. This course teaches drivers of straight trucks, including rental trucks, driving skills including vehicle characteristics, conducting a pre-trip Inspection, using a cushion of Safety, blind Spots, City, Highway and Rural Driving, and backing.
Maintenance Vehicle Driver Safety Cost: $40. Length: 4 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
This course teaches drivers of maintenance trucks, including tow trucks, driving skills including vehicle characteristics, conducting a pre-trip Inspection, using a cushion of Safety, blind Spots, City, Highway and Rural Driving, and backing.
Utility Truck Cost: $40. Length: 4 Hours. Min: 10, Max: 40
This unique program covers specific situations utility truck drivers face. Course covers blind spots, cushion of safety, familiarity with the vehicle, scanning, turning, parking, and worksite traffic issues.
